AsiaInfo to Supply China Mobile with System Monitoring and Management for 2008 Olympic Games

AsiaInfo (News - Alert) Holdings, a provider of telecom software solutions and IT security products and services in China, announced that it has signed a contract with China Mobile (News - Alert).

This contract provides that AsiaInfo will supply a system monitoring and management platform and related services to the headquarters of China Mobile during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

“This historic event provides telecom carriers with an exciting arena to showcase new and innovative technologies and services to some of the most sophisticated customers from around the world," said Steve Zhang (News - Alert), AsiaInfo's president and chief executive officer, in a Thursday statement.

"We are delighted that China Mobile has selected our best-of-class technology and comprehensive solutions to ensure the smooth and successful operation of its business during the Olympic Games. As we reach this significant milestone, we also celebrate our 15 years of growth and innovation alongside China's rapidly developing and evolving telecommunications industry."

The system monitoring and management platform and services are in place to ensure continuous operations and the security of China Mobile’s Business Operation Support System (BOSS), Business Intelligence (BI) system and other business support systems during the Olympic Games.

Once the platform is in place, it will also provide real-time analysis and monitoring of China Mobile’s Olympics-related business. This process will allow the company to manage its partners more effectively during the Olympic Games.

AsiaInfo Holdings has established itself as a valuable provider high-quality telecom software solutions and IT security products and services to some of China’s largest enterprises and many small and medium-sized companies in China.

An established player in the Chinese telecommunications industry, AsiaInfo became a prominent supplier of IT security products and services in China with the acquisition of Lenovo's (News - Alert) non-telecom related IT services business in 2004.

AsiaInfo began operations in the United States in 1993 and has moved major operations back to China in 1995. The company played a significant role in the construction of the national backbones and provincial networks for all of China’s major national telecom carriers, including China Telecom (News - Alert), China Mobile, China Unicom and China Netcom.

This contract is further testament to the value that AsiaInfo delivers in the Chinese market. This is one that continues to produce significant opportunities as the economy continues to emerge and economic development is on the move. As a result, companies such as AsiaInfo that can deliver solutions that support this growth will enjoy increased adoption and sustainable growth in the market.
